| dr: this devolves back to Hume's is-ought problem. Is good governance economic prosperity, safety and security? Or is it the freedom to do what you want, even if it means a sulsianttalby lower quality of living and the chance of getting mugged or killed when you walk out of your house? (If you think this is an exaggeration, look at South Africa. We have a long ways to fall yet, and there's very little to suggest that our current path will alter.) I'd take the former any day of the week. |
